Bandoneona

In 1987, Argentine LDS poet Alejandro Seta published a collection titled Bandoneona. The 20-poem cycle has been newly released as a spoken word album performed by the poet in Spanish, paired with music by Dani Macia. Three of the tracks feature Macia singing, and the others are mellifluously delivered spoken poetry by Seta, with guitar accompaniment.. The bandoneón referenced in the title is a traditional concertina instrument (somewhat related to the accordion) that is particularly common in Argentina and music of the tango. The spoken voice performance on Bandoneona retains an intoxicating, atmospheric musicality, even without the wandering, probing lines of the guitar. (On YouTube.)
