Books You Might Have Missed in 2022

Over 200 books have appeared so far in 2022 by authors who are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and another 50 titles have been announced to be published before the end of the year. This can only mean that while most of us spent the early months of Covid pajama-lounging and aspiring to the fictional lifestyles of Ferris Bueller or Rip van Winkle, these writers kept a slightly more disciplined daily calendar.

Imagine gathering them all together for a formal, celebratory dinner. What a complicated seating chart that would be! You’ve got the Angry Politicians’ table, the Youth-in-Peril fiction table, the What’s-the-Name-of-Your-Planet fantasy table, the Soothing Self-help table, the Ever-rigorous Academics table, the Romance table(s), and the Kids’ table. There would be tables for intense historians, for doctrinal seminarians, and for keepers of the flame of high literature (pronounced: lí-tri-chur). There is science fiction and non-science fiction. We would need a table a bit removed from the rest for poetry, a crowded table for scholarly journals, an overly-staged table for stylists, cooks, and interior designers, and probably some additional seats for party crashers—those not officially of the faith whose books on LDS history and culture or fiction add to the merry mix.

So many books, so many seating possibilities. How would you match up the authors? For our listing of 2022 books published so far this year, explore the table, below. (To discover forthcoming books as they are released, stayed tuned to The Season.) We will provide page-turning info for each book as it appears in print, including details about authors, titles, publication dates, brief book descriptions, publisher credits, and bookseller links—all to make you hungry for reading. Bon appétit!

The interactive table below lists books published so far this year, before The Season began (September 14, 2022). Information includes titles, authors, publication date, book descriptions, and live links to booksellers. The books are listed by publication date, with newest titles appearing first.
