Annie Poon

Annie Poon’s Color Your Way through the New Testament is described on the website of its publisher (Covenant Communications) with details of the packed activity book’s 52 coloring pages, connections to the Come, Follow Me curriculum, and lesson plans for Primary teachers and LDS parents. All true, but it is missing one, crucial descriptor: The book is fun!

Many products created for children by adults are sort of odd, aren’t they? It is as if the adults responsible for them can’t remember what it was like to be a kid. The tone of them is off, as ineffective as trying to communicate with a teenager using baby talk. Poon’s new volume—it is the fourth in the series of reactions to the standard works—nails the elusive goal of scripture study: finding its joy. Her pages of interactions, games, coloring pages, prompts for drawing, and even a cut-out and pop-up theater so kids can stage their own biblical dramas are also packed with witty and knowing surprises, as rewarding to the probing reader as the scriptures are themselves. – Glen Nelson (covenant-lds.com)
