The Fiction Kitchen Trio Cookbook

C.S. Lewis wrote, “Eating and reading are pleasures that combine admirably.” So, it would seem, are cooking and reading. From The Green Eggs and Ham Cookbook to Dinner with Mr. Darcy, literary recipe collections are nothing new. However, established fiction writers Traci Hunter Abramson, Sian Ann Bessey, and Sarah M. Eden have created a new twist on the sub-genre—a compilation of recipes for dishes found in their own books—The Fiction Kitchen Trio Cookbook: Novel Recipes from Your Favorite Novels

Between them, Abramson, Bessey, and Eden have written dozens of titles in a variety of categories from historical romance to contemporary suspense, many of them best sellers and award winners. No matter the genre, describing imaginary meals for readers can be an immersive world-building tool, so why shouldn’t a clever writer—or three—turn things around?

The cookbook itself is an inspired and successful piece of cross-promotion. But the Trio have taken the collaboration even further, sponsoring fun, delicious-looking British Bake Off-style showdowns to engage their significant combined fan base on social media platforms.

After over two years in development, The Fiction Kitchen Trio Cookbook contains more than 100 recipes. Each offering has ties to a particular novel by one of the three co-authors and features a pertinent quote. The collection ranges from baked goods like The Duke of Kelbrook’s Chelsea Buns, to appetizers like Saint Squad Sliders, to desserts like Lucas’s Peppermint Ice Cream. — Luisa Perkins (Forthcoming from Covenant Communications on March 14th.)
